WEEK 5 (16th/04/2018 to 20th/04/2018
Monday
Today, I have shown the advance of the song "I wanna know you" and I have received really good feedback from my tutors about my good progress in composing. However, I was told that I need to focus more in getting in tune at the time of singing the lyrics of this song because most of the same I do not hear myself when I sing and that makes me get out of tune.
Tuesday
Today at workshop class, It was thought an idea for my collaboration performance. It will be re-taken the song "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson to be performed by most of my classmates (which it is hoped to be possible).
Also, it is a positive problem to get the right tempo and rhythm because the style of playing the genre of salsa is very particular, so it is a challenge for achieving. It is a rhythm unknown for them and I would feel really excited of showing them another way of making music.
I have played a progression of chords for this song in its own key. Also, I have been playing with the syncopation to get the upbeat of the salsa style.

Wednesday
- Looking at the production of the song in salsa version on Logic. I have worked today in collaboration with one of my classmates, who helped me to do a base of the percussion, piano, bass and guitar that fits really well. In addition, It is getting the rhythmical and melodic structure that I was aiming for, before sharing the idea for the group collaboration.
- Doing research about tracks on youtube of salsa beats in conga that might be useful to add to the percussion channel of this version.
Here, I have attached one of my sources from youtube that will help me to get the wished sound and the rhythmical beats:
This is a video which I will use as a source of information to help me to quantise the congas for the salsa version song and also to get ideas about the important rhythm and tempo that the salsa has.
Thursday
Today, I was in the production room recording the vocals for "I wanna know you" with Ujwal who also helped to edit them.
Friday
Today, I have worked on logic the salsa version of Billie Jean in collaboration with Lilla from my course. Basically today we created the introduction and the bass melody with the change to salsa rhythm, and also I have used the sample of the congas from youtube, however, I changed the speed fitting it into the cover's tempo and also I have added more EQ to make it sound different.
Working together makes things faster and also easier to work out.
