FMP Week 3 (19/0318 to 23/03/18)

Monday (19th/03/18)


Today I will start my research about the origins and all the evolution of the mixing of Latin music with American, British and another countries' music.

I  plan this third week to book a rehearsal room and a production room to advance with my compositions for the EP of my FMP.

I hope that for this week, I record the vocals of the second song and also to advance the editing and the mixing.

As well as finishing my FMP proposal.





Tuesday  (20th/03/18)


Today I have booked a rehearsal room from WKC to start working on a song that I composed which is called "I wanna know you". It is basically a song based on a mix of reggaeton and pop rhythm.

I have not finished the whole song, but I will bring some lyrics that I have written at home. I need to structure the song and identifying what are the better parts and what is the best and dynamical order to give more interest and to do not produce monotony. Which It was the case in the song Nine letters that I was transmitting the same feeling in the whole song.

I have written the intro, the bridges and the second verses, but I am still working on the chorus. I have identified the key of the song which is in D, and also I have worked out the progression of chords which is D - Bm - G - A (1 - 6 - 4 - 5) but I am still working out a good chorus. I will try to record the vocals and the melody on logic at home.

 Finally, at the end of the day, I could achieve my rehearsal and also could get an idea of how my song will sound like. Below, I have attached the video of my rehearsal and the pictures of the lyrics of my song.

I have noticed that I need to change some grammar and spelling mistakes. However, this week has been a really good beginning of an interesting idea that I have in mind, I hope to develop it properly through these weeks.

Wednesday (21th/03/18)

 Today, I am planning to collaborate with some people from my course to help me with my track of "I wanna know you" for the day of the performance. I have spoken with them to arrange the rehearsal for the next week.

 Also, they very interested in giving me feedback and opinions about what I should improve. 


Thursday (22th/03/18)

Today, I had booked one of the production rooms to meet myself with one of the production students. Unfortunately, for personal reasons, I had to cancel this session with the student from production. However, I have contacted him to meet us in the next following weeks that we will be on half-term holiday to work on the track(s).


Friday (24th/03/18)

First of all, Today is the last day of the week and I definitely need to work faster on getting the recording of my track. For next week, I am planning to continue working on my track "I wanna Know you".

I need to book a session in my house or if it would be possible at college, with the student from production, to start working on ideas to get my track as done as possible. However, this weekend, I will emphasise my time doing some research and being getting good references that will help me to develop more my investigation.


Reflection


Finally, I need to take more responsibility and more discipline to achieve and to complete all the tasks that I put to myself in between the week.

This week, I  have advanced on my track, because I did not have a clear idea of how it would sound like. In addition, I have started to think about my research and the sources that I will use to base my work in something which I hope, I will be a source of inspiration for others to experiment their music with latin stuff.

 However, I need to be more honest with myself about taking more responsibility for this project.

Half term holiday advance

In this half term, I will be working on my song "I wanna know you". 4th/april/2018 Today, I recorded the introduction of the song, but first of all, I remembered one of the tips from one of literature review which says that always we have to record first the instruments with louder frequency, but I started recording the base of the guitar and then I started adding the instruments. This song is in pop but I will add the reggaeton patterns at the chorus. This is a recording of the introduction of the song: The following audio is the same recording but with the effects on it. I have added EQ, Compressor, Pedals, reverb, delay and a phaser to create that sound: the next audio is the intro with the bass melody and the piano melody. Bernhoft who uses the looping on his music to creates the melody in every single instrument. he uses a dynamical and an interesting range of different acoustic instruments, such as the bass, the percussion, the hooks and the second voices. Also, he uses his voice to create repetitive phrases that contain like a Dj effect at the end of the phrase of the hook.
