Song of the week: Me gustas tanto/ I like you so much

Today I have started to compose a song which I would like to call it 'Me gustas tanto' which in Spanish it means 'I like you so much'. The reason for writing this song is because a few days ago I met a girl in a bar and I actually really liked her and the inspiration was based in this experience. Once I arrived home, I started to write some lyrics on my phone and then I just was trying to guess the notes of the lyrics. So today, I am going to focus on getting the chords and the key of this song as well as rehearsing it.

I have been listening to this song to use it as a reference to make this song:

The reason for using this song as a reference is because the topic that the song talks about is similar to mine and also, the feeling is the kind that I want to get for my song too. This is song is upbeat, very happy, romantic, with a lot of rhymes and inspiration about a girl that he likes so much.

The quality of the sound is not strongly crunchy with the beats but it is still crunchy to keep the reggaeton vibe of the song. However, the style that this song has is very interesting in the way that I realise that the romantic feeling comes from the ukelele, which sounds very tropical and calm for me and I think that the instrument really gives the main vibe to the song for being romantic.

Today, I am very happy because  I have released my song 'Escultura' at all the online platforms and also I have published officially the video on youtube. Here I have attached the link to the video:

Also, today I have arranged better the song 'Me gustas tanto' and I have rehearsed today at home for a couple of times, the following is the video of today's session at home:

When I was rehearsing today I really could get the feeling for the song. I really can feel what I am saying through the lyrics of the song and I can transmit this sensation that I deeply like that girl. Tomorrow I am going to start with the production of the instrumental which is going to be very positive because I already have an idea of how the song should sound like.

Today I have started with the production of the instrumental for this song. I have created a looping of melodies with synths, mainly with cosmical effects to give weight to the harmonies of the instrumental. At the intro, I have made a sequence of melodies with violin and piano looped in the first eight bars to give a special contrast of narrative before the entrance of the main melody of the song. Also, I have used some samples of drums with latin grooves extracted from Splice which I have recently started to use to add some professional material from famous Dj's such as Dj Lujian and Sky. They have shared their library content in this online platform where I can buy credits to choose any of their samples to help me to produce my songs. 

(the screenshot is not from today, I have taken the screenshot the next day of the production, but it is just to prove that I have done the production of the track previously)

I am trying to arrange the production of my songs more dynamical in terms of using looping but not making it creatively located in the song to create an interesting effect. I mean that I have applied on the main advice given by my producer Dukus which is "Try to cut melodies to generate spaces where you can create dynamical effects, even without adding new sounds, you can still keep the same sounds and instruments of your song all the time through the song but giving them a break and a different apparition to give dynamical and creative structure".

To be honest the reflection about the production that I have made today is that I am proud to see how every day I can approach easier a way to get my inspirations and idea to get the sound that I want to get as I could materialise more confidently my ideas.

I have done that with the drums and some synths as you can see in the screenshot.

Here I have attached the bounce from today's work. Also as you can listen I have mixed the track as quick as I could while I was producing the music which is a method that I have learnt from my producer:

Tomorrow I will record the vocals and will start to make the song to sound better. I honestly prefer to arrange a session in the studio around the college to record this song properly with my producer Dukus who is going to help me with better mixing and mastering. however, I have done good automation and mixing compared to my previous works and I have done a good advance in production, to be honest. I am proud to see how the practice and more practice has helped me so much to improve as a producer/composer and artist.

Today I have recorded the vocals for 'Me gustas tanto', and I am impressed to see how an acoustic arrangement at home rehearsing can become magically good in a track that sounds good and transmits what I wanted to transmit since the beginning of its composition. Also, the comparison between the first version of it in my rehearsals and the final in the recording is just a product of a huge difference between the idea and the reality of it.

However, I have changed the levels of some channels to make it sound more balanced and more ubicated in terms of dimensional control of the sound. I like how it sounds but I definitely have to re-record the vocals and to get the help of my producer to make it sound better definitely.

REFLECTION OF THIS WEEK: This week was very productive, the vibe of my inspiration to compose this song has been very natural. The feeling of the root where this idea came from is very deep too and maybe the reason for making a soon for this girl helped me so much to be very productive. Also, my analysis about how I mix and produce was very focused on obtaining the result of my ideas particularly similar to how they were on my head which is very positive.

Every week I have been improving my organisation of how I approach better arrangements faster and more productive each time.

The next week I am going to keep making songs and music to complete this album.
