Today I have started to write a song in A major key which represents the Ionian mode 1-1-1/2-1-1-1-1/2. An inspiration came up on my mind thinking about finding the perfect girl for me unexpectedly. However, I just started to rehearse a bit of the song just to analyse the mode for this song and what feeling it transmits.

Today I had very good progress with this song which is an idea that I think I should be produced in Latin pop vibe and rhythm. tomorrow, I am going to start the production of this song and also the arrangement of better vocals. I need to feel more comfortable singing the song and tune.

Today I have started with the production of the song. I think that to begin with the base of the melody is the main point to start with, so I have made a base of the melody with a Yamaha piano to get clearer the tempo and the idea that I want it to sound like.
Here, I have attached the screenshot and the audio of the melody that I have recorded as the main idea to start with the production:
I think that the progression of chords make it sound very happy and catchy, also in the chorus, the syncopation makes it more rhythmical and interesting. To use the Ionian mode in this song helps so much in terms of getting the feeling of happiness and romanticism that I want to give to the song.
However, I think that the effect of this melody of the piano should be fuller and more dynamic so I have made the same version of the previous audio but in a pawnshop clavinet:
I just added some EQ, reverb, delay and overdrive to create a kind of soft-crunchy sound.
After, I implemented an idea of how the drums and bass should sound like to enhance that dry and crunchy taste that I want to give to the song:
In my opinion, the bass line has a very dynamic change of intensity and also it gives very strong weight to the song.
So this how the song sounds like with all the sounds together, now I have a very clear idea of what this song can transmit in a Latin pop genre with a very melodic and catchy essence. However, I feel that It needs still more weight and power. Tomorrow I will see what to add and how it benefits my song.

Today listening to the arrangement made yesterday, I felt the need for adding one more channel of piano and synths to make the song more contrasting with some syncopation against the flow that is already happening.
Something like this:
the mallets and piano keep the same chords as the other instruments with the difference that now the effect is more wet and soft which is contrasting and interesting so now the sound mixes a dry and crunchy taste with a wet and soft vibe and if I am not wrong the sound is fuller and heavier. If I add those sounds and bounce it again it should sound like this:
Today, I did not have so much time to invest on this song at the production room, but I will definitely record the vocals tomorrow, and also I will compare the first version recorded on Monday with this new version and I think that the direction taken should a way better than the first version.

As I planned yesterday, today I have recorded the vocals to see how it sounds with the lyrics and to analyse also the difference between the old version and the new one.
I have made some changes in the mixing and the balances of channels to make a good space for the vocals. but, anyway, the difference is huge as I said. Let's listen to it:
Now if we compare both versions which are very contrasting the vibe is completely different and everything has a taste of two complete compositions. However, the Ionian mode in A major makes that both songs have the same feeling as a whole melody. Both make me feel happy and inspired to be honest.

Today, I had a session with a friend who is personally my producer and helps me to improve my songs, apart from improving the mixing and making the mastering of them. His name is Dukus, and for today's session, he helped me recording the vocals and also mastering the song, as well as mixing it.
His knowledge has helped me so much to understand better the management of levels and also to analyse the importance of listening to myself singing as I do not do it when I write my music. The previous versions of this song bounced, the vocals sounds forced and out of pitch. So today, we focused on improving the quality of my singing and to make it sound powerful, mainly in the lead vocals.
Apart from focusing on the vocals, he improved the weight of the bass, synths, drum beats and vocal chops.
I have contacted a friend who has sent me an audio saying 'jayffo' to add it to the track and the result was interesting too.
To be honest the difference from the previews version that I have done, the last is really good and also, shows good progress about my recordings.

My inspiration may be increased through these weeks to see the limits of my compositions. This week I realised that to be proactive and to be focused on one thing which was to have ready a song for my EP was actually very productive. I did not feel that to focus just on producing my song and trying to get it ready by the end of this week was a waste of time. Even if I have not done so much research, I have obtained one more important piece of this project.
