Monday Today, I have finished the backing of Billie Salsa version to be performed at the final Gig.                                       Thursday  Today, I have rehearsed with Kenya about her songs and again with Sifa about her two songs too, as part of my collaboration. But I want to leave clear what are all my collaboration at the moment. I have collaborations with the following classmates: Ashley with Two of her songs Paulo with the cover in my blood by Shawn Mendez Kiano who is helping me with my song "I wanna know you playing the bass" Melika who is singing the backing vocals and is also playing the piano for my song "I wanna know you" Sifa with her two songs Kenya with her song Moneth with her song ujwal who helped me to record the vocals for my songs Here is the video of today's rehearsal with Kenya and Sisa:

Half term holiday advance

In this half term, I will be working on my song "I wanna know you". 4th/april/2018 Today, I recorded the introduction of the song, but first of all, I remembered one of the tips from one of literature review which says that always we have to record first the instruments with louder frequency, but I started recording the base of the guitar and then I started adding the instruments. This song is in pop but I will add the reggaeton patterns at the chorus. This is a recording of the introduction of the song: The following audio is the same recording but with the effects on it. I have added EQ, Compressor, Pedals, reverb, delay and a phaser to create that sound: the next audio is the intro with the bass melody and the piano melody. Also I have made some panning and some equalisation. However, those intruments were created on logic but the guitar as same as the song "nine letters" is recorded by a USB microphone and edited with e...

FMP - CASE STUDIES

Image
CASE STUDIES    CASE NUMBER ONE This is my first case of studies. Basically, it is a song interpreted by the singer Justin Quiles, who on his video is performing an acoustic version of his song in a slower rhythm and tempo. Which I think that it goes more into a reggae style. This song is called “Orgullo” which means pride in Spanish. I think that to take his music as a case study is relevant because this version of his song is in a Reggae style, which is a proof that it sounds good and also, it is a way of making music by the experimentation of other rhythms and upbeats such as the reggae, because originally his song is in reggaeton, but this idea is what I am looking for in my project. I really want to mix reggae with Trap, but I have to identify the use of syncopation of the bass against the tempo of the guitar and also might be good to add the pedal that the guitar can use to give an interesting sound. I will part from this composition to complement m...

Week 4 ( 26/03/8 - 30/03/18 ) LITERATURE REVIEW WEEK

Monday Today, in class we were focusing on the literature review so I will try to get all the literature review and good sources of information which will help me to infer as much as I can for developing my project. Literature review  Chris Middleton. ( 2004) THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO DIGITAL AUDIO. United Kingdom: I L E X. This is a book that is related to the beginners in digital audio and studio mixing. basically, this book is a good source of information for me, because I want to create sound effects, beats and vocals into my composition but I do not have a wide knowledge in language to express myself technically as I would like to express. Therefore this book is really useful to get more language and critical thought about what I am producing and how I am producing it. Also, It provides a huge ranges of glossary that might help me to interact with Logic Pro x with more confidence because I will implement my vocabulary and therefore I will know which kind of settin...

Week 7 (30/04/2018 - 04/05/2018)

Monday Today, I am going to look at a book called "The rough guide to reggae" written by Steve Barrow & Peter Dalton 3rd edition expanded and revised. RESEARCH During my time composing a song in a reggae mode,  I have been trying to get the right feeling of reggae in the sound of my song. However, it is quite interesting to mix a Latin way of singing with a melody in reggae with the upbeats and the particular guitar strumming that it has. After the continued development in the music industry of the reggae, It is remarkable the fact of accepting that the harmony roots of the reggae come from a particular way of composition. "Just as the 'mainstream' solo singers maintained vocal styles established in the late 1960's, so the Jamaican scene in the roots era saw the continuing formation and recording of vocal groups."  - Steve Barrow and Peter Dalton. (August 2004 by Rough Guides Ltd, 80 strands, London WC2R 0RL) THE  ROUGH GUIDE ...

WEEK 8 (7/05/18 to 12/05/18)

Tuesday Today, I have rehearsed with Sifa in her songs as part of my collaboration: Wednesday Today, I was analysing the sound of the song "Nine letters". I have shown the song to one of my teachers who said that I should add more dynamics to the song and make it less repetitive to give different feelings between chorus and first or second verse. Also, one of the points from the feedback was that I had to fix the panning of the hit hat and also to give more changes to the kit drums.  I have to compress more the vocals and also I have to reduce a little bit the level. I need to work out a better way to make it sound differently improved. The song sounds nice and sounds with a good feeling, but it teens to be monotonous for the whole song, so that is the weakness of my song. Therefore,  I need to work more on new points where it could fit better the sound and to change the feeling. Friday Today, I have fixed the mistakes I had in ...

Mid-point presentation

Image
Today, In the mid-point presentation I was a bit mind-closed to explain myself properly. I think that they understood what I am aiming to do with my project. However, the comment of my tutor about explains musically what those rhythms are, how they are created o how they work because It is true that I seemed as if I were assuming that they already know what those styles of Latin music sound like. Also, I think that I need to focus more my project as he said "If you explain more, what those rhythms are" which mean that I need to find a way of explaining more specifically how they work and what they are. In addition, the feedback from my tutor was very clear and also, it was specific the fact that he understood that the main idea to combine a list of Latin rhythms that can be mixed with others genres and also, It can be used as a new way of making music, but I really need to explain what those rhythms are and how or why they can fit with other genres.

Final Collaborative Performance Project - The Proposal
