Composing task 2 - Second track
My Second track is composed by the use of different techniques such as the creation of a recording audio, the use of ESX24 / Fairlight which was a technique that I took from the song of kate bush, " hounds of love" that basically it was an advance in the music industry for the flexibility and malleability that it allowed to musicians to do and creating, this was a great source of information.
Also the Gated Reverb, that also comes from kate bush's material to implement an effect of the mirror in the sound of the song. The use of sound design with audio, which allowed me to change the pitch and the tempo from the audio sample, a structure, new instruments - away from pieces such as the use of the sound of vocals and the creation of instruments as the style of Stevie Wonder in his songs, and a clavinet but with different wind instruments with the same harmony. Also, the use of the environmental sound of an audio sample which creates the main sound world of this track.

Also, the use of the environmental sound of an audio sample which creates the main sound world of this track.
In my opinion, I think that the first technique at the beginning of the track, which was the use of recordings, in fact, It was the main source of ideas. To record an audio by the use of my voice, such as creating vocal sounds, definitively increased the possibilities of using dynamics with the audio sample recorded. After, it was transformed into a new instrument. I would say that to create a melody by that audio sample as a new instrument was very difficult because It is very unusual, but it is very useful.
The environmental sound evokes a kind of narrative that seems like someone was leaving a place or maybe, someone could be arriving at a place. That is the objective of the audio sample, to create a sense of narrative that is relating an undefined context but at the same time, we can imagine an interesting atmosphere such the sounds of vehicles and city traffic.
On the other part, when I started to use the reverb on the track with the rhythm of drums kit, definitively, the reverb helps to blend the sounds of the drums and the piano and places those instruments in the sound space that in few words made that syncopation of on beat and offbeat. In addition, they would transmit a sense of contemporaneous melody.
At the begging of the first four bars, we could identify that the audio sample of environment mixes suddenly an intro of tweed picked synth and violin's melody as a sequence of chords in E minor, which fill up the track with more harmony and starts to give sense to the melody. After, the use of the reverb blends the drum kit's snare with the instrumental intro to give more delay and dynamic.
In order to the next part of the track, when the song flows we can listen then the use of the clavinet starts with a clarinet staccato, trumpet staccato, and a flute staccato playing a sequence of chords in E minor to persuade the listener with more harmony in one octave up, furthermore I added reverb to the instruments which it does not leave any gap. Also, I started to record other audio to convert it in a new instrument with ESX24, then I put an arpeggiator that basically plays the notes added in the new instrument in an ascended and descendent scale.
Let's start doing an analysis of the whole composition by parts as the following:
INTRO:
In this part, we can see that the intro is basically started by the audio sample and the analogue sound recorded and converted to ESX24.
Also, there is a synth playing a melodic sequence in E minor and a blue kit drum playing just the snare that is set with reverb and delay to give the effect of out of tempo as same as the violin and the second synth that are playing a sequence of E Minor chords ( Em, D, C, G, D) with the same effects.
VERSE
The next part of the track is the verse because the synth's melody is faster as if the instrument were interpreting a message. as well as the intro of the drum kit, such as the major crush GB that gives more weight to the song. The increment of the frequency with the blue drum kit also fills more sound and Basically, it puts more impact on the beats, that creates the syncopation with the melody and the drums.
PRE-CHORUS
In here, the same thing is happening as in the verse, but with the difference that in here is more contrasting the use of the trap bass and the addition of another electronic drum kit that gives more speed on the beats without changing the tempo. On top of that, It is been added the harmonic clavinet of the wind instruments playing chords in E minor.
FIRST - CHORUS
In the first chorus, some gaps have been put in the drum kit to give more dynamic, and also added a new audio recorded sample of vocals where I decreased four octaves down and then I added some reverb to make it sound monstrous. The objective of this recording used with ESX24 is to create an atmosphere more contemporaneous, which is something that the listener is not expecting.
RHYTHMICAL
In here, I took out the melody, and just left the drum kit and the rhythmical components.
INSTRUMENTAL AND BRIDGE TO THE SECOND PART
This part is very important but very unusual for understanding. Because it is a wide gap that takes out the drum kit and only leaves a rhythmical sound of the winds harmony, with the objective of giving more dynamic to the next chorus which is unexpected too. In here, it is more contrasting the audio sample recorded with the reverb and delay.
SECOND PRE-CHORUS
This part is very empty of instruments, but It is used the collision of the drum kit increasing frequency, the volume and beats to create the path for the next chorus. I think that it may be something annoying to listen to it a long time. But when the chorus comes up we can listen that the next chorus will make the difference.
SECOND CHORUS
In order to this part, I added a new instrument with a different rhythm. The spacey echo bells that blends with the rest of the instruments, creating an interesting pattern that comes up in the song.
THE END
Finally, the only interesting thing about it is the last bar when some instruments finish but the echo doesn't, therefore that gives a good effect on the final. Furthermore, It is very important to contrast the fact the end is based in the bass trap, the echo bells, and the prolonged audio with a compressor that shows where that paused and delayed sound from the whole song comes from.
Here, I have attached the link to the track, where you would be able to listen to it. Try to look at the main point that I talked about and find the effects:
