Tech spec plans for the practice gig and the Easter gig.
First of all, we started to look at what the song would be about. We did not know how to start with the composition, but I started to play a sequence of chords in E minor. Then, one of the singers started to bring some lyrics to the melody and the other piano player, started to bring an arpeggio with the same key in some octaves up and some octaves down. As a result the drummer started to bring the beats of the rhythm and the patterns of the song and syncopation started to come up as a result of the creativity.
However, we were struggling about how to do the transitions of the song from the bridges to the chorus, because there is a change of key from E minor to A minor. Therefore, we just started to work out the way of making the transitions tidy.
For the Easter gig, we were planning to organise ourselves on the stage in a way that we could communicate each other properly to get a good performance.
The use of the technology on this Easter gig is very important because we have implemented the octave pedal and the effects pedal in the guitars to make the solo instrumentals of the song more powerful and more weightly.
Week by week, as we can watch on the videos of the rehearsals, we changed few things to the song. Even, we could see the progress and the way as we played differently every week.
The practice had turned from the boriest to the most exciting rehearsal, because at the beginning it seemed boring to look at the way as everyone had a unenthusiastic attitude. We did not like that much the way as the song was turning monotonous and looped. Then we just added some changes to the introduccion of the chorus with spaces and staccato to contrast the difference in between verses and chorus.
Finally, the song was finally done and prepared, just we decided to rehearsal the last week a few times and then the idea from one of our tutors came up which was to change the sound from one of the keyboards to a bells effect. It gave more contemporary sound and more dynamical feeling to the song.
Information about artists that relate to your own work.
One of the artists that relates to our work is Michael Jackson because in most of his song such as Billie Jean and Beat it, which are remarkable songs where it is used the multi effect pedal on the solo instrumentals to make the rocky sounds.
We departed from that idea, which is to add some solo instrumentals to our song with the multi effect pedal and the octave pedal.
