Review Two
What was the content of the performance?
The content of the performances was basically, the interpretation of modern songs that are actually famous and contemporaneous. I do not know very clearly what the name of most of the songs that were performed, but what I could infer was that some material was composed of them.
On top of that, I would like to add the fact that some of the groups developed their own style even when the material was not composed for them at all, but it was really cool to take place from that idea.
Were the performers successful in engaging the audience?
First of all, the first two groups had something very interesting to perform and I could say that they demonstrated their effort as a band, as well as their constant rehearsals, to achieve that experience and confidence on the stage. However, in my opinion, I think that they should have achieved a better engagement from the audience if they had tried more interaction with the audience instead of doing a good welcoming such as; "thank you for coming", or as someone who was singing all the time giving the back, which was a bad idea and also the walking around form one side to other side was also persuasive for getting a better attention.
On the other hand, I would say that the last group was amazing, I think that even, when they did not use any live singing voice, at least they knew how to use that idea to make more interesting and original their performance. Also, I think that the connection between them was an essential characteristic that helped them to transmit a great impact to the audience, as well as the use of dynamics that gave more feedback and helped to fill up more the harmony and resonance in their material.
What techniques did they use to engage the audience?
The first group used the accompany of all instruments as a band which helped them to interpret an interesting material.
I could find out that they used in most their songs the use of silence, this gave an engaging impact because the silence in a song sometimes is something that we do not expect so I could find out about it.
The second group prepared to take place based more on the use of vocal harmony which was very different from the previous group. they used the technique of ostinato to create that harmony that by the way, it was very soft and enjoyable more than the use of a whole instrument ensembling.
The last group used their own interpretation based on the use the alteration of melodies with the drums, synths and sub-bass which gave an original performance very engaging.
What was a standout moment for you? (choose a particular song or piece) What was it about
this piece that made it special?
The standout moment for me was when JCP Finished their fifth song and their started to play songs one over other as a if that were a DJ performance, changing the style of music where they added a speedy rhythms with the drums and sub-bass. After, the rhythms increased the impact and then, the audience were dancing, that was great.
What was your overall impression of the entire event?
My overall impression about the entire event was that I really like the variety of style of each band.
I think that everyone did not expect what each band came out with.
Definitively, I could say that there is a big contrast in between bands where we could see the experience and knowledge.
