1960s
JAMES BROWN ­­- FUNK CHORDS
The funk music is particularly recognised by its seventh chords and ninths, which creates that remarkable funky style.

James Brown uses most of his songs with just a couple of chords, therefore that shows that the material of the song is not very complex but on the other hand, it is an essential effect that provokes a good feeling to audience (because to its happy melody).

The funk has a huge camp for having the chance of experimenting and exploring new material with any instrument and also, helps to create new composition.
1960s
JAMES BROWN - FUNK RHYTHMS
The funk rhythms of James Brown is more emphasised in creating danceable music atmosphere. Furthermore, If we go through the melody, we can identify that the rhythm is complex.
 The drums in a slower tempo show that the rhythm is created by syncopation and on beat. At the same time,  it is hard to keep an offbeat and on beat structure, but that is what creates a speedy contrast in the tempo.

It is very contrasted the use of ostinato. For example, we could say that this kind of material used as part of the funk original composition helps to get a difference within musical genres.

STEVIE WONDER – SYNTHS
Stevie Wonder synths is a robotic and synthetic sound used in his songs to create an unreal melody that the human cannot make out that it is. Also, It is a common mistake to identify the main melody of the song “superstition” as if that were interpreted by a guitar but in fact, the melody is done by a synth.

Stevie wonder vocal melisma is one thing he is well-known for, and that it is an essential component that he implemented on his composition but that makes him very experimented.

KATE BUSH – 1980s DIGITAL STUDIO TECHNOLOGY
Kate bush interpreted songs with the most innovated material in music that none else had heard before. Which was the use of analogue sounds converted to digital material by computer that allowed musicians to grow in the musical industry. This new development of dynamic in the songs allowed to record anything and replaying it into the computer and after, playing back the sound recorded  on the keyboard, then that gave a new use of harmonies. Also, this implemented new settings in her songs such as the reverb in the drums and the effect in the voice.
1980s
KATE BUSH – THE CONCEPT ALBUM AND THE LONG-FORM SONG TRADITION
Basically, the concept of album is based in poetic statements that relate a whole story from different points of view which is something that she describes as a whole album and not as album with “singles”.

However, She creates this album with a dramatic context about her memories which starts when she is bobbing into the water and then that brings her to the past and after to the present and then that continues in a fluent changes of context that relates that memories that also, creates that dramatically atmosphere.

SUB-BASS – THEORY AND PRACTICE
The use of the sub-bass is a persuasive effect that is not very contrasting as a melody, very it is as an effect that gives more weight and rarefaction in a deep way. This is a good instrument to create that weight to help to fill up more volume and also, to transmit a physical contact. I could define that effect as an untouchable impact that we cannot see or touching but anyway that beats us in each beat of the rhythm that we feel.

Half term holiday advance

In this half term, I will be working on my song "I wanna know you". 4th/april/2018 Today, I recorded the introduction of the song, but first of all, I remembered one of the tips from one of literature review which says that always we have to record first the instruments with louder frequency, but I started recording the base of the guitar and then I started adding the instruments. This song is in pop but I will add the reggaeton patterns at the chorus. This is a recording of the introduction of the song: The following audio is the same recording but with the effects on it. I have added EQ, Compressor, Pedals, reverb, delay and a phaser to create that sound: the next audio is the intro with the bass melody and the piano melody. Bernhoft who uses the looping on his music to creates the melody in every single instrument. he uses a dynamical and an interesting range of different acoustic instruments, such as the bass, the percussion, the hooks and the second voices. Also, he uses his voice to create repetitive phrases that contain like a Dj effect at the end of the phrase of the hook. He uses the loop pedal very well to create a live recording which is very interesting because he recreates an acoustic kind of instruments just with the guitar and his voices.
