1) 'Nueve Letras' by Jayffo.

Nueve Letras means nine letters in Spanish. This song is the first one of my album ' Sentimientos de un adolescente' which in Spanish means 'Teenager's feelings'. The principal idea for this song was an inspiration from an experience that  I lived a long time ago with a past relationship which went really bad. However, I composed the lyrics based on heartbreak, but mainly by the distance. Distance in Spanish has nine letters and that is the reason why I have named it ' Nine Letters' but also the distance is one of the most common reasons for breaking up. Even, when we are just teenagers who do not know everything about life and also who do not really know to manage a serious relationship when we are at this stage of our lives where we are constructing our future.

As part of my exploration through my music course, I have been trying to find my identity and trying to build my style and essence. During my research for the FMP in year one, I decided to create an EP where I planned to mix genres and compose music taking influences from Latin background and music from the US or UK.

In further results as part of my time composing this EP, I started with this song 'Nine letters', but my idea was to create a song in reggaeton style. However, my research made me decide to make this song a mixture of Trap and Reggae, so I call this song a Trap-reggae song.

As a result, I wanted to achieve new ways of making music by getting influences from research into genres which we are not related with. Sometimes, this kind of experimentation and research help us to be more creative and to have a wider vision in composition.

During the production of this song, I have used automation in the EQ of every single instrument and also I have transformed a recording from an acoustic guitar to the audio of an electric guitar with lots of effects and a completely different taste to give the reggae essence. Also, I have used looping on the drums and sampling to create the guitar effects which keeps constantly throughout the song.

On the other hand, with the pass of the days, while editing the song, I realised that the automation was not working as I wanted to sound like. Also, the EQ was so bright and the quality of sound was not soft. So, I started my research on listening to music which was similar to the style of mine and I found some ideas that I could take to improve the taste of the song as well as adding my own artistic name on the song to start to build my own brand.

This song is a reggae song but it has a pop taste which sounds very interesting but also this source helped me to identify the strong bass to add to my song.

The progression of chords where influenced by the song ' Orgullo' by J Quiles unplugged version:

This second video is the original version of his song:

This version was my inspiration because his original song is in reggaeton style, but I just changed of mind suddenly from producing my song in reggaeton to reggae and to add a bit of trap stuff to make it more interesting and to achieve my experimentation.

2) Mirala - Jayffo

This is a song that I have been previously working at. The idea for this song is to tell how a guy who dreams with the perfect girl, comes up in real life in front of him.

However, the song is also a way to express what you feel and what you imagine when you find a person that you like the most. My, main purpose is to achieve unexpected outcomings in the chorus and the second verse of the song. The beginning is very ballad-pop, but suddenly it turns into reggaeton, which is the surprising effect for this song.

The techniques for the production of this song are sampling and automation. Specifically, I sampled instrumental phrases from the piano and the percussion and I added more effects after bouncing them. On top of that, I added automation in the volume of the synths, marimba, and guitar to create an atmospheric sound full of energy.

I tried to get a loud beat of the kick, snare and Hit hat which are the main rhythm of the song because it is a reggaeton style. Also, in the second verse of the song I have set automation for the drums, so they sound from a very choppy beat to a mellow beat. The reason is to play with the dynamics and making it more Latin.

My songwriting process started from an idea where I wanted that the song sounded as Trap but, as soon as I started to compose on Logic, the beats were more tropical, so I decided to change the song from Trap to Reggaeton because the progression of chords in E minor makes it sound very catchy plus the drums beats.

The influence that makes me inspired for the sound of this song was the song ' Mundo Aparte' by Farruko, which shares some content of contemporary music and the powerful use of strong reverb in the vocals.

I think this strong use of reverb creates an atmospheric sound which surrounds the listener and It is persuasive to listen to the vocals with the melody and the upbeat.

During the composition process of watching it, I decided that the song should sound more tropical and with a little summer flavour with fun. But also, the lyrics of the song develop a feeling of romanticism and engagement that makes the listener get involved in finding the perfect match. Persuasively, the song begins passively the lead vocals and marimba melodies and synths with effects, in addition to the added reverb and delay in the lead vocal, create an introduction to the soft and short song. But then in the pre-chorus, the piano melody starts untimely and makes the song more rhythmic and catchy. The chorus is when the greatest impulse of sound energy is released that creates a more rhythmic impact and makes the great difference from passive to active.

Take this idea of structure for the song of the previous song `Mundo Aparte' that also develops a structure similar to my song with the difference that the reverb is more exaggerated and the change of tone in the voices is more noticeable.

Here I have attached the song ' Mundo Aparte' by Farruko:
