IDENTITY Short bio/statement – who are you, what do you do and why are you interesting?  Juan Jose Estrada Sepulveda or 'Jayfo' is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer who has a genre-fluid style for making music.  His compositions are influenced by his Latin background but he researches into American and British music to help him to mix his music, even though Spanish is his first language, he also makes music in English. His ideas of creating music are eclectic, given to his recent music that shows mixtures between trap and reggae, pop with reggaeton and ballad with R & B. His  main focus is to make music and to discover his identity through the way as he makes music which is why he mixes genres. Week 1 (17/01/2019) During this week I have started to analyse deeper my composition '9 Letters' which I think I have to focus more into its structure and dynamics. I have been developing a progression of solo notes that might fit very well at the end of the second chorus. If we listen to the audio attached of the song below, you can see what I am talking about when I say that I want to add a guitar solo for the second chorus just to give a better taste to the song and also to complement the reggae style. I composed this song with the objective of exploring new ways of mixing genres, some friends tell me that my style is more genre-fluid which is exaclty what happened with this song '9 Letters'. Basically, it was an intent of mixing trap influence with reggae influence and as a result this song came up. However, I used some reggaeton artist as an influence for producing this song. Wednesday 16/01/19 During this week, we have arranged completely the entire cover of the song 'Through the wire' and now we have moved on to our new composition in hip hop. I have started to play a chord progression in E minor, just to have a base. Then, we have put some ideas and we have rehearsed a hipothetic version of our new song. Ashley started to use the lyrics of one of her songs and we could carry on with something today. Let's see how it goes tomorrow, but we are pregressing quickly with the new composition. So, we passed from Em to Dm and then ashley brought more lyrics, we just have to work harder the next week because there are still some parts we need to arrange the song better. Wednesday 09/01/2019 Today at band's workshop we have been introduced forward the Hip Hop style. Also, we started to assemble the cover of the song 'Through the wire' by Kanye West. However, I have taken the challenge of playing the drums, to start to explore and to improve my musical skills. I do know some stuff about playing the drums but what I have done today is more empirical. Thursday (11/01/2019) Today at band's workshop, we arranged better the song 'Through the wire'. Mostly, all the rehearsal, we were trying to make my drumming more accurate and interesting. Also, today I felt more comfortable playing the drums, even If it is not my main instrument I am impressed for the way as I face to play an instrument that which I have had weaknesses before with.
